Leucopsis Products in Bangor, PA recently made a visit to Reynolds Advanced Materials in Allentown to find a more cost effective solution for their aquatic bird rearing cubicle floors. Leucopsis were previously using expensive premade floors and wanted to begin making their own.

Leucopsis Products is a team effort between two people who spend their lives working with and thinking about birds.

A veterinarian and a certified wildlife rehabilitator, Michele has distinguished herself in the avian rehabilitation field, especially for her work with waterfowl. She is nationally known for her lectures on waterfowl husbandry, rearing and parasitology. Michele serves as a board member of the National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association.

Ian, a wildlife biologist by training and an award-winning aviculturist, has specialized in waterfowl husbandry and breeding for over fifteen years. He has working experience with over 120 species of waterfowl as well as with cranes, sea birds, and other taxa in avicultural settings. Ian serves on the boards of directors of the American Pheasant and Waterfowl Society and the International Wild Waterfowl Association.

Ther goal is to improve the husbandry of birds in captivity, whether they are in short-term or lifelong care. They are always on the lookout for products or techniques that stand out as exceptionally practical and effective in improving hygiene, promoting natural feeding and reducing stress.

Ian Gereg, owner of Leocopsis, used Smooth-On’s Mold Star® 30 silicone rubber to create a mold of an original model he created. After some small-scale testing, Ian found that Smooth-Cast® 380 urethane resin was perfect for his application

Ian mentioned previously attended a Smooth-On Seminar and he feels that it helped him tremendously in being able to tackle this project.
