Published

California Poly-technical University (Cal Poly), recently participated in this year’s national ASCE competition for concrete canoes, which was held at Pittsburgh University’s Jamestown location. While there, Cal Poly took second place out of 25 other universities, in their new Ambrosia themed canoe. When Cal Poly was searching for materials, they chose to contact Reynolds Advanced Materials: Los Angeles and we are glad they did! The Ambrosia canoe, created from Smooth-On material, was cast using Brush-On 40 and VytaFlex urethane rubber molds. The canoe is 36 inches wide by 22 feet long; inside the canoe, on the hull, sits molds of different fruits and milk containers. The crew for this majestic canoe is much bigger than you think, with seven captains in command of the build and running, and another four who set sail. Reynolds Advanced Materials is proud of the accomplishments of the Cal Poly team and look forward to working with them again.
